DEWAYNE WHITE

COMEDIAN - HEADLINER, FEATURE

Dewayne White is a retired Army Officer, comedian, and leadership coach based out of the DC area. He began his military career as an enlisted Soldier in 1992 as a Russian linguist. During this time, Dewayne served with the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade, 10th Special Forces Group, and as an interpreter with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. 

In 2001, White attended Officer Candidate School where he became an infantry officer. Immediately after completing Infantry and Ranger School, Dewayne was assigned to the Third Infantry Division where he participated in the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003. He was wounded in April of 2003 during an RPG ambush near Baghdad. 

After returning home, White served in The Old Guard in Washington, DC before returning to 10th Special Forces Group where he commanded the Military Intelligence Detachment. After another tour in Iraq, he served as a Russian Professor at West Point and later as a team chief with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency where he traveled frequently to Russia as a New START Treaty (NST) inspector. 

After retiring in 2015, White worked as a contractor creating training scenarios for major exercises in the US and Republic of Korea. Later, he joined the government where he served as the training officer and Division Chief for DTRA’s New START efforts. In March of 2020, Dewayne led the final inspection team into Russia under the NST.

White began to pursue his lifelong dream of standup comedy and left the government in 2021 to follow his passion. He now headlines clubs all over the country and is a member of USO’s Talent Corps. He is also a comedy bootcamp instructor with the Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP), and will be traveling overseas this year with Armed Forces Entertainment. Dewayne also teaches leadership and conducts leadership coaching for the U.S. Navy. 

White's deployments include: Bosnia (2) and Iraq (2) with multiple overseas tours. 

Awards include: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Action Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, and Ukrainian Parachutist Badge
