Lakeia Stokes was our opening speaker during the 59th Training Group’s Return to Readiness Training Day on 20 June 2019. There were 80 Active Duty Air Force Medical Service members in attendance. The training day involved CBRN and Combat Casualty Care response.

In the midst of technical difficulties and a site unseen, Stokes maintained her calm and quiet presence, immediately gaining the audience’s complete attention as she took the stage. Her story was that of surprise, tragedy, and sheer resilience. We are grateful to have heard her story and it emphasized the importance of why we were there.
